This course is sociology 217A, a graduate-level seminar restricted to graduate students and a few upper-level undergraduates.
What is the class size limit? Is it going to be enforced in this class?
The limit is eight students and, as you can tell by looking at your seven classmates, it has been enforced.
What if someone drops this class during the two-week add and drop period?
In that case, my secretary will get in touch with the first student on the waiting list and allow him or her the opportunity to join this class. But that`s neither here nor there. Our business today is to talk with those who are in this class.
What will our work mostly consist of?
Since this is a seminar, your work may be slightly different from your other courses. There will be no mid-term nor will there be a final exam either.
Wow, that sounds great!
But before you get your hopes up too high, don`t be fooled into thinking that this course is easy. It`s far from that you should be working on during the whole semester. It should be based on your own original argument backed up by in-depth research and consultation with me during my office hours.
When are your office hours?
Tuesday and Friday from 2:30 to 5:00. If these items are not convenient for any of you, you can try to arrange another time with my secretary.
